Call for abstracts

Anonymous abstracts are invited for talks on any topic relevant to the study of indigenous languages of the Americas. Talks will be 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for discussion. Abstracts should be 500 words or less (excluding examples, figures, and / or references). Abstracts and presentations may be given in English, Spanish or Portuguese. 

Individuals may submit abstracts for one single-authored and one co-authored paper. Please indicate your source(s) and type(s) of data in the abstract (e.g. recordings, texts, conversational, elicited, narrative, etc.). For co-authored papers, please indicate who plans to present the paper, who will be in attendance, and who are the corresponding authors.

Abstracts should be submitted in .pdf format via this Abstract Submission form. Please submit two abstracts, one with the identifying information of the person or persons giving the presentation along with affiliations and contact information, the other with no indication of the author(s). If authors must be cited, they should be referred to as (Author [DATE]). For the anonymized abstract, please make sure to title the abstract with the name of the presentation/paper and not with the name of the author(s). Author(s) names in anonymized abstract submission may be rejected or the author(s) may be asked to revise and resubmit. 

Hard copy submissions will be accepted from those who do not have Internet access. For this, please send two copies of your abstract, along with the following information: (1) your name; (2) affiliation; (3) mailing address; (4) phone number; (5) email address; and (6) title of your paper.

NOTE: WAIL will be prepared to go online at any time prior to the start, should the need arise due to any risks or dangers posed by the COVID-19 Pandemic or other health or safety emergencies.

Presenters at WAIL are eligible for inclusion in the Proceedings of WAIL. Presenters will be given instructions about how to submit their paper for publication in the Proceedings of WAIL in the month after WAIL is held. These papers will be subject to editorial review before being published on our website where they will be publicly available. All papers must comport with the WAIL style sheet (www.wailconference.org/proceedings).

Se invita al envío de resúmenes anónimos para presentar sobre cualquier tema relevante al estudio de lenguas indígenas de las Américas. Las presentaciones serán de 20 minutos, seguidos de 10 minutos para el debate. Los resúmenes no deben sobrepasar las 500 palabras (excluyendo ejemplos, figuras y/o referencias). Los resúmenes y las presentaciones pueden ser en inglés, español o portugues. 

Cada persona puede mandar un resumen con autoría individual y otro en coautoría. Por favor indique las fuentes y el tipo de datos que maneja en su resumen (e.g., grabaciones, textos, conversaciones, elicitaciones, narraciones, etc.). Para presentaciones en coautoría, por favor indique quien presentará, quien asistirá a la conferencia y quiénes son los autores con los que podemos contactar. 

Los resúmenes debarán enviarse en formato .pdf através de este formulario de Entrega de Resúmenes. Por favor entregue dos resúmenes, uno con información que identifique a los autores con su afiliación e información de contacto, y otro resumen anónimo. En caso de citarse a sí mismos, deberán hacerlo en el formato (Autor [FECHA]). Para el resumen anónimo, por favor asegúrese de que el nombre del archivo es el nombre de la presentación y no el nombre del autor(es). Si el resumen anónimo entregado contiene los nombres de los autores, esto puede ser motivo de rechazo o puesto en revisión para su nueva entrega. 

También aceptamos copias en papel físico para aquellos que no tienen acceso a Internet. Para ello, por favor envíe dos copias de su resumen, junto con la siguiente información: (1) su nombre; (2) afiliación; (3) dirección de correo; (4) número de celular; (5) correo electrónico; and (6) título de su presentación.
