The Workshop on American Indigenous Languages (WAIL) is an annual conference dedicated to the study and maintenance of the many Indigenous languages of present-day North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. WAIL welcomes presentations from academic scholars as well as community language activists and educators.


El Workshop on American Indigenous Languages (WAIL) es una conferencia anual que se dedica al estudio y mantenimiento de varias lenguas Indígenas del territorio actual Norteamérica, Centroamérica, Sudamérica, y el Caribe. WAIL acepta charlas de académicos y de activistas lingüisticos y educadores de comunidades Indígenas.

A two-day summit of talks about the latest on American Indigenous Languages & Linguistics

Day 1

Conference begins with a blessing by local Chumash elders, the traditional custodians of land that UCSB resides followed by a day of presentations

Day 2

Presentations continue along with the keynote address

 

 

The goal of WAIL is to bring leaders in American Indigenous Languages and Linguistics from across the globe together so that we may help each other grow and learn.
